What is changing?
As a follow-up reminder of Emigra Worldwide’s alert of August 15, 2017, the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) of Singapore is in the process of introducing a new format for Work Pass Cards. The new card system is designed to enhance security and facilitate organizational operations when enquiring on the most up-to-date pass validity and verifying card authenticity. In addition, the new card system will reduce the need to replace cards when passes are renewed. Work Pass Cards currently display the Date of Application, Date of Issue, Date of Expiry and Occupation fields. These will all be removed from the physical card. Instead, the latest information for the work pass holder will be made available virtually via:
1. A new Mobile App called SGWorkPass,
2. A new web service, and
3. The existing work pass system’s enquiry function.

- All employers of foreign workers in Singapore
What to expect
Implementation of the new process for Employment Pass, S Pass, Dependent’s Pass and Long Term Visit Pass will be introduced in March 2018 (exact date to be confirmed).
Employers are encouraged to use the new SGWorkPass mobile app to check a pass’s validity. For internal tracking purposes, employers will need to rely on alternative documentation (such as the Notification Letter) in order to monitor a pass’s expiry date.
