Turkey – Immigration Updates

ResidenceDocument Changes for the Residence Permit Application

What has changed

Effective immediately, all documents necessary to apply for a Residence Permit must be original copies. Previously, scanned copies were accepted by notaries to be translated and notarized for the application. The notary must now certify each document is the original, or the Immigration Bureau will not accept the document.

Who is affected?

  •  Individuals applying for a Resident Permit

What you need to do

Immigration officers may request to see the original documents. In some cases, they will retain the original documents with them. Individuals should be aware that the documents presented to the immigration officers may not be retrieved. If they need a document for future use, they should obtain a certified true copy or will have to undergo the process of obtaining a new original.
