Nigeria – Re-Entry Visas No Longer Required

What has changed

On February 11, 2015 the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) removed the requirement of obtaining a re-entry visa for foreign residents.

Who is affected?
What to expect

  • Expatriates who are residing in Nigeria holding a Long Term Work Permit/Residence Permit (CERPAC)

Foreign nationals who are residing in Nigeria under the terms listed above can now travel abroad and return to Nigeria carrying only their Long Term Work Permit/Residence Permit (CERPAC).

Previously, any travel outside of Nigeria required the foreign national to obtain a re-entry visa to return to Nigeria.

What you need to do
Planning ahead

  • Foreign nationals can now travel on their Long Term Work Permit/Residence Permit (CERPAC) during the entire length of their permit without the need to obtain further re-entry documentation.
