Morocco – Work Permit Process Change

What has changed

Announced in January 2017 and officially effective as of June 1, 2017, the Ministry Labor in Morocco has switched to an online system for Work Permit applications. The new online platform, called Tacechir, which is aimed at enabling more effective processing of applications, as well as reducing the processing times. Previously, the Work Permit application was submitted to the Immigration office manually.

  • All clients submitting new residence permit applications

What to expect

With Taechir, applications are filed electronically and a tracking number is provided. Applicants then receive e-mail notifications for file validation, rejection, or completion requirements.

Work Permit processing times have decreased from six (6) to eight (8) weeks to two (2) to three (3) weeks. However, this might be may change in the coming weeks.

What you need to do
Planning ahead
  • All clients submitting Work Permit applications still have to file at the Ministry of Labor with original forms and all required documents. Once the application forms are generated, these have to be signed and legalized in Morocco or authenticated by a public notary or apostilled if done abroad in countries with a bilateral agreement with Morocco.
