What is changing?
In accordance with the arrangement of the Ministry of Public Security, the Exit -Entry Administration Information System in Shanghai will be shut down for system updates from Friday, December 22, 2017 through Monday, December 25, 2017. During this time, all of the Exit-Entry Document Service at headquarters and branches, self-service spots, on-line service or “WeChat” service platforms will be suspended. Service will return to normal on Tuesday, December 26, 2017.

What to Expect
From December 22, 2017 through December 25, 2017, the Exit-Entry Administration Bureau will neither accept any applications nor issue any permits.
Additionally, processing times for applications submitted prior to December 22 will be lengthened by two (2) working days. For foreigner’s visa /residence permit application submitted to the Exit-Entry Administration Bureau between December 13 and December 21, 2017, the processing time will be ten (10) working days, rather than the typical eight (8) working days. For new applications for Chinese passports or e-EEP permits to Hong Kong/Macau/Taiwan submitted between December 11 to December 21, 2017 the processing time will be twelve (12) working days, rather than the typical ten (10) working days.
