Beijing – HR Presence Required for Work Permit De-registration

Effective immediately the Beijing Labor Bureau has announced a new regulation on registration for Alien Employment License (AEL) and de-registration for Work Permit (WP) .Both AEL registration and WP de-registration will require the physical presence of a local HR representative. This new regulation will reinforce this HR requirement for AEL registration and will now extend to WP de-registration, where it was previously not required.

Shanghai – Short-Term M/L Visas Can No Longer Be Renewed

Effective immediately travelers who enter China holding a short-term (less than thirty (30) days) M or L visa will no longer be able to renew their visa in Shanghai. This regulation will not affect long-term M or L visa holders.  Previously, short-term visa holders were able to extend their stay in Shanghai.
